Club Aigle Noir is meticulously preparing for the first leg of its CAF Champions League qualifier, a key match scheduled for September 5, 2026, at the esteemed Intwari Stadium. The club's spokesperson, Léonce Ntakirutimana, provided a full update on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, detailing their advanced readiness for the highly anticipated fixture. This initial match marks a key step in their campaign, with the team aiming to secure a strong home advantage before the return leg.
Intensive Preparation Underway
In a strategic move to enhance its competitive edge, Club Aigle Noir has significantly bolstered its squad by recruiting new players from foreign countries. These additions are expected to bring fresh talent and diverse experience to the team, strengthening key areas on the field. The team's pre-season training regimen was particularly rigorous, including an extensive 25-day camp held in Dubai. During their time in Dubai, the squad engaged in a series of intensive training sessions and participated in several test matches, providing valuable opportunities to integrate new players and refine team tactics. This international exposure was designed to push the players to their peak physical and tactical condition.
Following their full international training, the players have now arrived in Bujumbura. This early arrival is a deliberate strategy to allow the team to acclimatize fully to the local conditions and, specifically, to the playing surface at Intwari Stadium. Understanding the nuances of their home ground is considered vital for optimal performance. As part of their final preparations leading up to the qualifier, Club Aigle Noir played a key warm-up match against Young Star of Gitega on Sunday, August 30, 2026. This fixture served as a final assessment of player fitness and team cohesion, allowing the coaching staff to make any necessary adjustments before the main event. The coaching staff has expressed satisfaction with the team's progress and the commitment shown by all players throughout this intensive preparation phase.
Confidence Against Opponents
Club Aigle Noir has openly expressed its confidence regarding its upcoming match against Al Hilal of Sudan. The club's management and players convey a strong belief in their capabilities, indicating that they harbor no fear of facing the Sudanese side. This sentiment stems from their assessment that Al Hilal is not significantly experienced at this level of continental competition, a factor Club Aigle Noir believes could work in their favor. This confident stance comes as the team successfully concludes its intensive preparations, having meticulously planned every aspect of their build-up to the CAF Champions League qualifiers. The club views this match as an opportunity to demonstrate their ambition and the effectiveness of their rigorous training program. They are focused on executing their game plan and securing a favorable result in the first leg.
Fan Support and Logistics
The second leg of the qualifier is firmly scheduled for September 12, 2026, and will be contested in Kigali, Rwanda. Organizers of the event anticipate that the return match in Kigali will proceed peacefully and transparently, with strong security assurances provided for all attendees. These measures are designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both home and away supporters. Recognizing the vital role of fan support, Club Aigle Noir has taken proactive steps to facilitate attendance for its loyal supporters planning to travel for the away fixture. To this end, the club has thoughtfully arranged transportation, reserving a total of 40 seats on a large bus specifically for their travel to Kigali. This logistical support aims to alleviate travel concerns for fans, encouraging their presence and engagement during what promises to be a key second leg of the CAF Champions League qualifier. The club understands that the vocal backing of their supporters can provide a significant boost to player morale, especially in an away game setting. The provision of organized transport shows the club's commitment to fostering a strong connection with its fan base and ensuring they can be part of this significant continental journey.
